Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM)

Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM)

In order to print an object using Fused Deposition Modeling you first need to have a computer generated 3D model processed into an STL file. This type of file format will slice up each layer of the 3D object and then relay the information to the 3D printer. The printer will then slowly add small beads of a thermoplastic which will bond together with heat and form layers of the completed 3D object. The thermoplastic then hardens and sets shortly after the layer has been added.
